What Does P.U.R.E. Do?
What does P.U.R.E do? Simple, we attempt to save the children. Those at-risk minors trapped in disadvantaged socio-economic nightmares not of their own making. Bullied, abused, violated, alienated, depressed, discouraged, disillusioned youth that society pretends only exists as statistical abstractions. Polls would have us believe "1 in 10" are destined for street gang affiliation, teen pregnancy, school system drop-outs, drug addiction, incarceration and premature death due to violent crime of suicide. P.U.R.E reaches out to this underserved population to help remove them from these less than ideal life events to give them all the chances they deserve to achieve the American Dream. Our mission resides in the assurance that by rescuing the children, the family is preserved and by preserving the family, the community is strengthened and by strengthening the community and transforming these individuals into viable members of society which in the end is a benefit us all.
P.U.R.E. Productions has stage plays (written and produced by Denita Pickens) that have toured 40 U.S. cities.
